CECAFA 2017 Semi-finals to kick off in Kisumu.

THE CECAFA 2017 semi-finals football match is set to kick off in Kisumu City this afternoon at Moi Stadium.

CECAFA Secretary General Nicholas Musonye says the first much will be played from 3:00 pm between Kenya and Burundi.

Addressing the press after meeting by CECAFA, Football Kenya Federation and the County Government of Kisumu through the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, CECAFA Secretary General said all the necessary preparations have been put in place to ensure that the games are successful.

Musonye says the second match of the semi-finals will be play this Friday December 15 which will be between Uganda and Zanzibar.

He says the two teams which will emerge the winners will proceed to the finals which will be held in Machakos County this Sunday December 17.

Musonye has urged the residents within Rift Valley, Nyanza, Western and any other regions to turn up in large numbers so as to watch the two matches.

“I know the people from the larger Western Kenya region loves football hence I want to urge them to turn up in large numbers and watch these two football matches being held in Kisumu this Thursday and Friday,” he says.

Musonye says Police has assured them of security during the matches.

Football Kenya Federation National Executive Committee Member from Nyanza Joseph Andere says the Federation has ensured that the teams are already in Kisumu for the two matches.

He has thanked the County Government of Kisumu for full support.

Committee Executive Member in charge of Culture, Sports and Tourism in the County Government of Kisumu Achie Ojany Alai has welcomed the teams in Kisumu.

She says as the CEC in charge of Sports, she will ensure that the sports agenda is moved forward under her watch while ensuring that the County Government under Governor Prof. Anyang Nyong’o succeeds in his manifesto.
