Raila condemns arrest of David Ndii, says Nasa
should expect more arrests.
The National Super Alliance Leader Raila Odinga has strongly
condemned the yester night arrest of one of the Alliance’s Advisors David Ndi
in Diani within the Coast region.
He says the arrest of Ndii is uncalled for, adding that the
Government should explain why they arrest him.
Speaking after meeting Kisumu County Governor Prof. Anyang
Nyong’o today, Raila said the arrest of Ndii and others including his daughter
Winnie Odinga are just a sign of intimidating the Nasa leadership.
He says these are signs to intimidate and black mail the
people of Kenya, adding that the arrest of Ndii will not end with him and more
arrests will be made by the Government to the Nasa leadership and supporters.
Raila says Ndii has never committed any crime that warrants
his arrest.
“The will of the people will never be suppressed through intimidation
to submit and the will of the people of Kenya will never be suppressed through
arrests, prosecutions, blackmails, intimidations, tear gas, bullets and water
cannons,” Raila says.
He adds that the will of the people of Kenya will always
prevail and no one can suppress this.
He says he condemns the in the strongest terms possible the
determination by the Government to use the security forces to black mail and
kill the innocent people of Kenya.
Raila claims that since the August 8 General Elections, over
215 people have been killed by what he termed as trigger happy police officers
during the electioneering period.
“Last weekend alone, we have buried twenty people who have
been killed by the police and next weekend we will also bury a similar number,”
Raila adds.
He asks the members of the foreign diplomatic missions in
the Country to speak about the killings of the innocent Kenyans, adding that
lives of all Kenyans are important and they must be protected against the
police brutality.
Raila further says Kenyans moves towards electoral justice
is unstoppable, adding that the people of
Kenyan will not relent until they achieve the desirable electoral justice to
ensure that each and every ballot cast by the voter counts.
