I will not condone any corrupt person, says Senator Outa.

KISUMU County Senator Fred Outa has issued a stern warning that he will never condone any individual who is perpetuating corruption in the new county Government of Kisumu.

Senator Outa claims that in the previous county Government of Kisumu under former Governor Jack Ranguma, there were some few individuals working there who perpetuated corruption hence plundered huge sums of public money for their selfish gains.

He says as the then Nyando Member of Parliament, he was not pleased how a few individuals aided corruption at the previous county Government hence blew a whistle to the former Governor whom he claims did not listen and acted upon the matter, adding that this is the reason as to why the former Governor was sent packing by the electorates.

Addressing mourners during the funeral ceremony of renowned veteran journalist Agawo Patrobas in Nyakach, Outa said such a similar scenario will never be accepted in the new County Government of Kisumu under Governor Prof. Peter Anyang Nyongo.

Outa says that those who want to plunder the public resources from the county Government of Kisumu will not have that chance because he is part and parcel of the new Government as the Senator of the county.

He says his main objective as the senator is to legislate on issues affecting the various County Governments across the country as well as discussing what amount to be allocated to the county Governments hence will never keep quite if public funds sent to county Governments are misappropriated in any way.

“In this county Government of Kisumu, I am rightly inside it because we campaigned together as team kali with now the Governor Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o and I am now the Senator. I am doing legislations on issues affecting the county Governments in Kenya as well as doing an oversight role on how public money allocated to the counties are utilized hence in Kisumu County, I am doing my oversight role as the Senator and cannot just keep quite without following on how the funds are used within this county,” Outa says.

The Senator maintains that there is no emerging rift between him and the current Governor Nyong’o as some people peddle across the county.

Outa says that he is only concerned about some emerging few senior individuals working at the County Government of Kisumu whom he claims have begun corrupt activities and collude with some powerful cartels hence awarding tenders without following due process as prescribed by laws.

He claims these few individuals and the cartels are the ones out to tarnish the good reputation of the new Governor Nyong’o, adding that some of these few senior County Government officials have colluded with powerful cartels to award tenders in a bar without following proper procedures.

“Prof Nyong’o has worked in several places and has never been tainted with corruption and if some few individuals working at the current county Government of Kisumu under him want to tarnish his good reputation then I as the Senator will never condone such. The Governor really means well for this county and he will deliver,” Outa adds.

He says the recent tender on roads that were awarded was not done procedurally in accordance to the law hence must be revoked and the process started afresh.

“There is no way tendering process can be done without following the due process of law. We want the law to be observed on the tendering process where even women, Youth and people with disabilities are also considered,” Senator Outa further says.

Outa says this is the right time for him to speak about any evil that has started to bedevil the County Government of Kisumu so as to help prevent corruption from getting deep rooted in the new system.

“I can’t wait for any other time to speak about what I feel is not right  as the Senator of Kisumu County because I may later be blamed by the electorates for not blowing the whistle on time,” he concludes.

Kisumu County Deputy Governor Dr. Mathews Ochieng Owili who also attended the funeral ceremony said it is too early and there is nothing wrong that has occurred.

He says his boss Governor Prof. Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o and the Kisumu County Senator Fred Outa still have a cordial relationship hence there is nothing wrong between the two.

“I want to state here that these two leaders are still in good terms and there is no love lost between Governor Prof. Nyong’o and Senator Outa hence in any case there is any wrangle, the two can sit and dialogue so as to find an amicable solution,” Dr. Owili says.

Kisumu County Senator Fred Outa recently claimed that some two senior County Government officials had awarded a sh. 200 million road construction tender without following due process of law and demanded that such like a tender must be revoked and the process started a fresh.
