ensure Devolution benefits the electorates.
THE National Super Alliance Leader Raila Odinga has urged
the Members of the County Assemblies to ensure that the devolve system of
Governance benefit the electorates.
Raila says the spirit of devolution aims at benefiting the
people at the grass root level.
Addressing Members of the Kisumu County Assembly, Raila said
the national government is up to no good and wants to kill devolution.
He says the two levels of Government that is the County
Government and the National Government are distinct but are interdependent.
He urges the MCAs to ensure they effectively play their
roles of oversight, Legislations and representation of the people so as to
ensure devolution works at its best.
He says Kisumu County is among those counties with great
potentials but is under achiever hence the need to up the games.
He says the MCAs must ensure that there is adequate service
delivery to the people.
Raila has urged the people of Kisumu County to fully support
the new County Government of Kisumu under the leadership of Prof. Peter Anyang
Nyong’o as the Governor and Dr. Mathews Ochieng Owili so as to help in bringing
development to the county.
“I know it very well that if you truly support the new
Governor of Kisumu County and his team then you will be able to have
development here in Kisumu County,” Raila says.
Raila at the same time says the people of Kenya must ensure
that the issue of electoral justice is attained at all cost.
“We will ensure we use every available means to ensure that
the people of Kenya get electoral Justice,” he says.
He urges the people of Kenya to remain firm and ensure that
electoral justice is fully achieved by all.
Raila has thanked the people of Kisumu County and other
counties supporting Nasa for not participating in what he has termed as a sham
election of October 26 this year.
“I want to sincerely thank you for joining other Counties
supporting Nasa for not taking part in that sham election of October 26 this
year,” he adds.
Raila also slams the recent statement by Uhuru Kenyatta for
thanking the Kenya Police Service for a job well done during the electioneering
period.
