About 7,000 people affected by flood in Alego Usonga, says MP.

ABOUT 7,000 People of Alego Usonga constituency have been affected by the raging flood following heavy rain fall which is being currently received.

Alego Usonga Member of Parliament Sam Atandi says his constituents have been affected by the flood which has been caused after River Nzioa which passes through the constituency burst its banks thereby causing the flood.

Speaking to Journalists when he distributed relief food from the National Government on Monday at Mahero Primary school, the legislator said those affected from the constituency are now camping in various schools after their homes have been marooned by water caused by flood.

Atandi says some of the areas which are worst hit as a result of flood include Mahero, Hawinga, Dibuoro and Nyambare.

Atandi has thanked the National Government under President Uhuru Kenyatta for providing free relief food to his constituents who have been affected by the raging floods, adding that the handshake that occurred on March 9 this year between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition Leader Raila Odinga has started bringing good hope to Kenyans.

He says the national Government has given the Constituency 1500 bags of rice, 500 bags of Maize, 300 bags of beans, some cartons of cooking oil.

At Mahero Primary school, the MP managed to distribute relief food to about 300 victims of the flood who are camping there and gave 30 bags of rice, 10 bags of 90 kilograms of beans and 10 cartons of cooking oil.

“I want to sincerely thank the national Government for availing relief food to my constituents who have been really affected by the floods. This is a good gesture and I urge the national Government to avail more such relief food to victims of flood in various parts of the country,” Atandi says.

The constituents thanked their MP for coming to their rescue by coordinating with the National Government that has resulted in providing them with relief food.
