Kisumu County signs MoU with private investors to build new Hospital at shs 6.5Billion.

THE County Government of Kisumu has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with a group of private investors to put up a new state of art hospital within Kisumu City at an estimated shs 6.5billion.

Kisumu Governor Prof Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o says the County Government  has signed the Memorandum of Understanding with a company known as Victoria Development Company{VIDCO} under Public Private Partnership  to build the new health facility where the current Victoria Hospital at Kisumu’s Mlimani estate is situated.

The new health facility will be known as the Victoria Hospital and Cancer Center which will be a 250 bed capacity hospital standing on an 8 hectares plot. 

Addressing the press during the signing of the MoU, Governor Nyong’o said the County Government is set to provide land for the new initiative.

He says the proposed hospital is destined to become a provider of highly specialized health care to the population of the Greater Lakes Region while creating effective linkages.

“This hospital is a collaborative effort with private investors is part of the county Government of Kisumu’s Vision to promote medical tourism given that Kisumu offers strategic location for serving Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Southern Sudan, Eastern part of DRC and Northern Tanzania,” Nyong’o says.

Victoria Development Company{VIDCO} Chairman Dr. Joseph Aluoch says the facility will provide specialist services in all major areas of health care including cancer, pediatrics, cardiology, endocrinology, gynecology, ENT, Maxillofacial, Dental Surgeon.

He adds that other services to be provided include ophthalmology, general and orthopedic surgery, coagulation, hematology, Microbiology, cytology, Chemistry, anatomic pathology, immunology and aviation medicine. 

He says construction work for the new health facility will commenced within the next three months from now.

“This Level 7 hospital will also come with a Nursing school, doctors’ plaza to house specialists in all the mentioned fields and state of the art funeral parlor,” Dr. Aluoch says.
