Kisumu Leaders tells President
Uhuru to act on corruption.
LEADERS in Kisumu County have told President Uhuru Kenyatta
to immediately act on the issue of rampant corruption which has bedeviled the
country.
Led by Kisumu County Senator Fred Outa, the leaders said the
President must now act on the issue of corruption that has led to siphoning of
public funds from the various sectors.
Outa says the spirit of hand shake is very good and must be
supported but the issue of corruption must be fought at all cost.
Nominated Senator Rose Nyamunga says it is the Executive
wing of the national government which must tackle the issue of corruption
witnessed so far.
“It is the executive which has powers to finish the issue of
corruption in the country which has bedeviled it,” She says.
Nyamunga says the Nasa fraternity must oversight the Jubilee
Government on how the public funds are utilized.
Kisumu County Women Representative Rosa Buyu says the
President should fight corruption first before starting implementing his Big
Four Agenda.
The leaders who spoke at Kakola in Ahero Ward last weekend
during the burial of Mzee Joseph Gwara Ojiem were in agreement that the issue
of corruption must be tackled at all cost.
Outa adds that a lot of public funds have been lost through
corrupt deals ranging from NYS, the National Cereals and Produce Board, Kenya
Power among others.
“The President must now wake up and tackle the issue of
corruption which is rampant here in the country. We have lost a lot of public
funds in the name of corruption and this should not be taken lightly by
Kenyans,” they say.
Former Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma said the spirit of
handshake should help in bringing changes to the people of Kenya.
“Handshake is good and should help change the lives of
Kenyans. We are also requesting that the handshake should help in bringing
Miguna Miguna back home from Canada,” Ranguma said.
Other leaders who also spoke on the issue of corruption in
the country include MPs Jared Okello of Nyando his Nyakach and Muhoroni
counterparts Aduma Owuor and Onyango Ko’oyo and Members of the County Assembly
of Kisumu who included Ken Ooko of Ahero ward.
