Keep
off from the fight against corruption, Atwoli tells EACC.
Central Organization of Trade unions
(COTU) General Secretary Francis Atwoli has told the Ethics and Anti-corruption
Commission to completely keep off the fight corruption in the country.
Atwoli says the EACC has completely
failed in its fight against the rampant issue of corruption in the country
hence need not to go on with fighting the vice.
Addressing participants during the Regional Trade Union Training on the future of work in Africa at Tom
Mboya Labour College in Kisumu today,Atwoli has claimed that EACC has been a
conduit of corruption in the country hence can never be entrusted with fighting the vice.
Atwoli has said EACC should now
leave the work of fighting corruption in the country to two agencies
namely the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the Director
of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
He says the two offices led by
George Kinoti of DCI and Nordin Haji as the DPP has so far done a commendable
work on the fight against the vice where even prominet personalities have been arrested and prosecuted against corruption.
"THE Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission
should keep off the fight against corruption in the country simply because
it has failed." Atwoli says.
He says those who have been
mentioned on various issues like corruption should never be allowed to
ascend to senior positions including being the Chief Executive officer of this
Country.
He adds that for Kenya and Africa to
grow at large, corruption should be stopped at all cost.
"African has great potentials
and for it to grow, corruption must be stopped",Atwoli adds.
Atwoli at the same time said there
should be a Cabinet reshuffle by President Uhuru Kenyatta so that the country
can move ahead.
He says the current Cabinet should
speak with one voice and support the building bridges initiative
that was initiated by President Kenyatta and Opposition Leader Raila Odinga.
"I want to ask President
Kenyatta to mobilise his cabinet and let them speak with one voice on this
issue of building bridges initiative since it is a good approach for this
country to move ahead," Atwoli adds.
