Kisumu’s Social Hall rehabilitation kicks off at shs 63m.

THE County Government of Kisumu has embarked on rehabilitating the Kisumu Social Hall at an estimated cost of shs 63million.

Kisumu City Manager Doris Ombara says they have embarked on refurbishing the Social Hall so as to give it a new face.

Addressing the press when Kisumu Governor toured the facility to launch the ground breaking ceremony for the facelift, Ombara said the amount will be used to modernize the building that was put up before the Independence.

Ombara says the completion of the refurbishment of the facility will be completed within the next eight months from now.

She says the funds will be used in modernizing performing halls, creating additional community meeting rooms, a cafeteria, walling and landscaping.

Ombara says the money will also be used in putting up additional office spaces and purchasing modern communication equipment.

Ombara at the same time announced that the progress made so far in refurbishing Lumumba Sub-County Hospital within Kisumu City is on the right track and has made tremendous progress so far.

She says the contractor is four months ahead of the schedule and has done tremendous work so far.

The City Manager says the hospital was allocated a total of 113 million for its refurbishment.

Kisumu Governor Prof. Anyang Nyong’o who also toured the facility to check on the progress made so far in terms of refurbishment said it has made good progress.

Nyongo says the facility will fully support the Universal Health Care System that was recently launched for the entire county of Kisumu.

The new facility will have a full MCH capability with a complete theater when the refurbishment is completed.

Nyongo also launched the construction of Family planning-Naselica access road as well as inspecting the nearly completed Kaloleni estate access roads that passes next to Social Hall.
