Maseno South ACK Diocese has a new Bishop- Elect.

THE Diocese of Maseno South Anglican Church of Kenya has a new bishop elected today to replace its retired Bishop Francis Mwayi Abiero who has served for 24 years.

Canon Charles Ong’injo is now the new Bishop-Elect after competing with two other contestants Reverend Boniface Obondi and Reverend Zephenia Kore.

In an election that 23 people within the Electoral College participated, Ong’injo emerged victorious as announced by the Chancellor Ambrose Weda.

Addressing the press after the announcement, the new Bishop-Elect promised to work with all the people within the diocese as their new Bishop.

“I want to assure you that I will work with all the people of this great diocese and I therefore invite my competitor to join hands with me and let us work together as a team so as to take this diocese to greater height,” Bishop-elect Ong’injo says.

He has thanked the Electoral College for carrying out a free, fair and transparent poll to elect a new bishop for the diocese of Maseno South.

The Anglican Church of Kenya Bishop for Maseno South Dr. Francis Mwayi Abiero is retiring after attaining the age of 65 that is the mandatory age for retirement for the ACK Bishops.

He has served the diocese for 24 years since he was elected in 1994 taking over from now the late Bishop Dr. Henry John Okullu who retired then.

The diocese of Maseno South has now held an election through the Electoral College to elect a new Bishop to take over from Bishop Abiero.

On November 4 this year, the new Bishop-elect will be consecrated to take over from the retired Bishop.

ACK Arch Bishop Jackson Sapit who visited the Dioece late last month described the outgoing Bishop for Maseno South Diocese as hard working.

He urged the Bishop who will be elected after Bishop Dr. Abiero to help take the diocese to greater heights.
