President Kenyatta to officially open UNESCO National Cultural Celebrations in Kisumu.

PRESIDENT Uhuru Kenyatta is set to open this year's UNESCO National Cultural Celebrations in Kisumu next month.

The event which is being organized by the Kenya National Commission for UNESCO (KNATCOM) is slated this September 19 to 23.

Addressing the Press in Kisumu ahead of the event ,the Kenya National Commission for UNESCO Dr.Evangeline Njoka said this is  the 3rd  UNESCO National Cultural Celebrations and will be held in Kisumu at the Jommo Kenyatta Sports Ground.

Njoka says the cultural celebration will involve an array of activities such as; food fair, youth extravaganza, fashion show, benga luo night, gala night and exhibitions.

She has expressed her optimism that Kisumu will host the event successfully.

Kisumu Governor Prof. Anyang' Nyong'o who also addressed the media welcomed all the 46 counties to Kisumu county for the event.

He says Kisumu County is a county of amazing people, thriving culture and numerous investment opportunities.


 Chairman of the National Museums of Kenya Dr. Mzalendo Kibunja has hinted that Omieri, a huge snake that hailed from Nyakach in Kisumu County and a national artefact will be showcased in Kisumu City during the event..
