Clergy laud residents for calmness in Nyanza, appeals to Ruto to complete Handshake projects

A SECTION of clergy from Nyanza region have lauded the residents’ move to remain calm after the yesterday’s Supreme Court ruling that has uphold Dr William Ruto’s win as President-Elect during the August 9 General Election.

Led by the Chairman of the Nyanza Council of Church Leaders Apostle Dr Washington Ogonyo Ngede, the clergy has said the move by the residents of Kisumu, Homa Bay, Siaya and Migori Counties in Nyanza to remain calm before, during and after the just concluded election and the Supreme Court ruling that has uphold Ruto’s win as the fifth President is a clear sign that the region is free to embrace any of the outcome of the two processes.

Addressing the press in Kisumu today to congratulate the President-Elect William Ruto following the highest Court upholding his win, four clergy namely Apostle Dr Washington Ogonyo Ngede of Power of Jesus Around the world Church, Arch Bishop Julius Otieno of the Living water Church, Bishop John Ober of the Church of God of Prophesy and Arch Bishop Dr Maurice Arao of the United International Life Ministries Church said the country now has to move on after the General election held on August 9 this year.

The Nyanza Council of Church Leaders Chairman Apostle Dr. Washington Ogonyo Ngede says election is now behind us hence the need for the country to move forward under the leadership of the new President-Elect.

Ngede together with the fellow clergy has appealed to President-elect to unite the entire country as its next Chief Executive Officer after coming from a poll which seems to have divided the country due to political differences.

“We want to ask the new President-Elect Dr William Ruto upon taking up the oath of office as the Fifth President to quickly embark on uniting the entire country by embracing all the communities within this great Republic as this is our sincere prayer that the country get united,” they say.

The clergy have also appealed to the President-Elect to consider completing all the projects that were initiated under the outgoing President Uhuru Kenyatta including those that were started as a result of the handshake between the outgoing President Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

They say while it will be very much okay for the new President to initiate new development projects across the country, it would be wise for him to complete the ones initiated by his Predecessor Uhuru Kenyatta and Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

The clergy have maintained that they will continue to pray for the country to have peace and tranquility to continue prevail in the country.
