Siaya County Assembly Speaker retains seat with a wide margin

The Members of the County Assembly of Siaya have given their Speaker a third term in office after voting him in resoundingly in an election that has been very peaceful.

George Okode has been overwhelmingly elected as Speaker of the Third County Assembly of Siaya after meeting the threshold of two thirds of votes of all the 40 Members of the County Assembly.

In the first sitting of the Third County Assembly of Siaya  presided over by Acting Clerk Erick Ogenga, Okode resoundingly triumphed over his sole competitor for the seat Evans Orwenjo by garnering 38 out of the 40 votes cast.

Orwenjo managed to garner two votes during the exercise.

He is therefore set to serve as the County Assembly Speaker for the third uninterrupted term having been elected for the first time in March 2013.

Upon his re-election for the third time, Speaker Okode promised to work with all both elected and Nominated Members of the County Assembly without fearing and favoring.
