Fire razed down Modern Electrical shop in Kisumu

A ferocious inferno this morning razed down an electrical shop in Kisumu where goods worth unknown amount have been destroyed.

This fire that started around ten o’clock gutted the entire building together with all the electrical appliances being sold herein.

Efforts from the Kisumu City Fire department bore no fruits as it was overwhelmed by the fire incident and it took the intervention of the Fire brigade from the Kisumu International Airport who put off the fire.

Over 500 people rushed to the scene of fire to have a glimpse of what was happening as police lobbed tears gas canisters and shot in the air to scare away part of the crowd that wanted to loot the premise that was burning.

A middle aged man who tried to vandalize the place was caught red handed and members of the public did not spare him as police came to his rescue against the public wrath.

Nyanza Regional Commissioner James Kianda and entire Regional Security and Intelligence team visited the scene.

Kianda said the cause of the fire is still not known and appealed the public to be calm for investigations to be completed.

He says the Kisumu County Disaster Preparedness and Management Committee will sit down and assess the damage caused so far.
