Couple from Kolwa East in Kisumu claim life in danger over their land
A COUPLE living in Kolwa East in Kisumu County now wants
the Government to come to their rescue immediately after they claim their lives are in
danger as a politician from the area is out to grab their land in which they
have been staying.
The Couple Mzee John Ogola Wando 73 years old and his wife
Betty Ogola 51 claim that a politician identified as Alex Onyango Ombago has
been threatening their lives while wanting them to vacate the parcel of land
which they purchased within the said area several years ago.
The duo says they purchased the parcel of land 0.48 hectares
under title Number Kisumu/Chiga/308 with a person best known to them and paid
all the money required for its purchase.
The couple says they purchased the land from Charles
Michandi in the year 2002.
They claim after processing the title deed which they did
upon completing the succession, which was when Ombago came to claim the
ownership of their land simply because he is their neighbor at home.
They further says in December 2018, Ombago came and
allegedly destroyed their crops as well as trees within the compound, adding
that after that incident a court case was instituted and they moved out of the
compound where they are now renting a house next to the area.
“We have never had peace at all since we came and built our
home here in Nyamonge area where our neighbor has been having constant war with
us until now our lives have been threatened as we keep on seeing strangers next
to our home and this has created a lot of fear among us,” they say.
They claim that the person whom they have accused of
threatening their lives have gone to the extent of following them from where they
are currently residing.
They urge the police to protect their lives and property as
enshrine in the Constitution of Kenya 2010.
Chief of Kolwa East Location Jenipher Kosome has confirmed that
her office has received such like a case, adding that she tried to solve the
matter but did not reach to a logical conclusion since there was no agreement
between the parties hence moved to court.
