Israel Government donates medical equipment worth shs 1.3m to Kisumu

The Government of Israel has donated emergency medical equipment worth shs 1.3million to Kisumu County Referral Hospital.

The medical equipment has been donated through the Israeli Agency for International Development Cooperation MASHAV and handed over to the County Government of Kisumu by Israeli Ambassador to Kenya Oded Joseph.

Receiving the donations today in Kisumu County Referral Hospital , Kisumu Governor Prof. Peter Anyang Nyong’o has sincerely thanked the Israeli Government for such a donation.

“I want to sincerely thank Your Excellency and the Republic of Israel for this 1.3-million-shilling worth of donation of emergency equipment,” Nyong’o says.

The emergency medical equipment comprises of  27 Infrared Thermometers, 14 Electric Suction Machines, 20 Nebulizer machines and 2 Defibrillators.

Governor Nyong’o says this will go a long way to strengthening emergency service delivery in the county referral hospital.

Nyong’o says the health facility remains a center of choice for many county residents seeking health services in the county due to its vantage positioning at the heart of the City and the quality of services offered.

He says the facility sees about 63,000 clients seeking primary health services per month of which about 320 are those seeking maternal health services.

Nyong’o says this is what informed the building of the new 70 bed maternity and new born unit which we just toured and is currently used an as isolation ward.

“In recognition of the depth of advancement of the Israeli people in healthcare provision, we seek your hands in partnership in equipping and operationalization of 6 the maternity theatre you have just seen and the expansion of the surgical theatre and refurbishment of the Intensive Care Unit of this very important facility,” Nyong’o says.

The Governor adds that Israel’s capacity in agriculture and agro production is well known despite being a relatively arid country.

“As part of our agenda to improve food security and make this county which is endowed with all aspects of production a food sufficient county, we want to invite the technical expertise of the Israeli government in this regard,” Nyong’o further says.

He says such a partnership would not only be beneficial to the people of Kisumu and this Country but also to the people of Israel as they can design agro-production specifically tailored for the Israeli market.

Israeli Ambassador to Kenya Oded Joseph Kenya and Israel has joined very good cooperation since time immemorial.

He says the Israeli Government will also partner with the County Government of Kisumu in many areas of development.

The Ambassador says this is not the first time the Israeli Government is donating medical equipment to Kisumu County Referral Hospital but the second one after they donated medical equipment at the emergency center in the year 2009.

“Today, we are handing over PPEs and medical equipment to this facility again. These equipment will uplift the emergency center in this hospital,” he says.
