Mega Celebrations in Kisumu as Supreme Court nullifies Uhuru’s re-election.

THOUSANDS and Thousands of Kisumu County residents have today thronged the streets of Kisumu City to celebrate the decision of the Supreme Court of Kenya which has nullified the Election of Uhuru Kenyatta during the August 8 this year.

The residents most of them who were watching the proceeding of the court in televisions jammed the streets of Kisumu City immediately the Supreme Court led by the Country’s Chief Justice David Maraga nullified the election of Uhuru.

Major streets within Kisumu City were full of peaceful people who carried twigs and matched along the streets while chanting victory songs following the ruling.

The situation was the same at Kondele area where the people peacefully celebrated what they term as a win for the National Super Alliance Coalition.

The situation was so peaceful that even the anti-riot police who were busy patrolling the streets were not interfering with those who were celebrating peacefully.

At Kisumu main bus terminus, some good Samaritans gave police officers water and some soft drinks to quench thirst.

The Anti-riot police officers who were heavily present within the City center and its environs did not fire tear Gas or live bullets to those who were celebrating peacefully as no one tried to engaged in any law of lawlessness.
Various leaders later trooped in at Jomo Kenyatta Sports Ground led by Kisumu Governor Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o who said the victory is for all Kenyans and God has indeed triumph.

“This is a victory for all Kenyans and God has indeed triumph,” Nyong’o said.

Nyong’o thanked the Supreme Court Judges led by Maraga for their ruling on the NASA petition which sought to annul Presidential election where Uhuru Kenyatta was announced the winner by IEBC.

Immediate Former Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo has said the Presidential Elections which will be held within 60 days as ordered by the Supreme Court should not be presided over at whatever cost by IEBC.

Jakoyo says IEBC Commissioners and its entire secretariat must be sent packing and elections conducted by an international body.

The same sentiment has also been echoed by former TNA Secretary General Onyango Oloo who decamped to ODM.

He says IEBC can not conduct the Presidential Election within the next 60 days as presently constituted because the Supreme Court has found that it did not conduct the August 8 Presidential Elections in accordance to the constitution and election laws.

He says the entire IEBC and its secretariat must be sent packing  and pave way for another team to conduct a free, fair and transparent Presidential Elections.
