Ten Kilometers race event for Rabies awareness to be held in Kisumu.

The Athletics Kenya in conjunction with a foundation has organized a ten-Kilometer running event in Kisumu so as to help in awareness creation about rabies.

The event will be held this September 28 from Jomo Kenyatta Sports Ground through Mlimani Estate then back to the venue beginning at 7:00 am.

Athletics Kenya Nyanza North Branch Joseph Ochieng says the family of Barnabas Korir under the Sharon lives on Foundation has organized for this event in commemoration of their daughter who died of rabies.

Ochieng says the Korir Family has put some prizes to be won by the athletics where number one in the race will earn shs 40,000 with position two getting shs 20,000.

Both number 3 and number 4 will get 10,000 and shs 6,000 respectively and position five will get shs 4,000.

Speaking during a meeting with the Kisumu Deputy Governor Dr. Mathews Owili, Ochieng says anybody is eligible to participate in the event.

He says the race dabbed “The Rabies Free Kenya 10 Kilometer Run” is organized in accordance with the rules and regulations of the International Association of Athletics Federation {IAAF} and the Athletics Kenya.

Kisumu Deputy Governor Dr. Mathews Owili says it is very important to create awareness on the issues of rabies.
