Discussions on Quality CBC Education is launched countrywide.

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has launched a dialogue on Education Quality in regard to the Competency Based Curriculum across the country.

The Initiative has been launched in the eight regions across the country with an aim of getting the views of various stakeholders on the ongoing implementation on the new Educational system known as Competency Based Curriculum {CBC}.

Addressing participants during the Regional Launch of the year 2019 Dialogue on Education Quality for Nyanza Region in Kisumu today, Chief Administrative Secretary and Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Education Prof Colletta Suda who read the Cabinet Secretary in charge of Education Prof. George Magoha’s speech said the launch follows the recent one in May this year on Competency Based Curriculum Policy.

Prof Magoha in his Speech read on his behalf by PS Prof Suda said the dialogue seeks to kick start a national conversation on the Competency Based Curriculum on the quality education Kenyans want in this country.

Magoha said the Ministry of Education is fully committed to ensure that all Kenyan’s views are taken into consideration on the implementation of the new curriculum.

The education Cabinet Secretary said the launch of this discussions at the County level is a great milestone.

He said currently the Sessional Paper Number one of 2019 is with Parliament and hope that the Members of Parliament will give it adequate attention, adding that once passed, it will give a legal and policy framework for the implementation of the new curriculum where it will be anchored.

“ I can confirm that the CBC is working and we are heading to the right direction as the text books to schools for the implementation of this new curriculum has reached schools,” he said.

He added that the Teachers Service Commission has trained nearly 100 teachers so as to help in the implementation of the new system of education.

The dialogues, which have been  simultaneously launched in 8 regional Headquarters across the country , seek to share study findings on assessment reports done by Knec, sensitize stakeholders on CBC and monitoring learner progress.

The information provides the backdrop to discussion on how best to enhance the quality of education learners are getting.

Discussion will provide background to the national conference on CBC that will take place next month of August this year.

“The Conference will enable all the stakeholders from the counties to share their views and concerns and it will find a roadmap towards the implementation of the CBC in Grade four in next year,” Prof. Magoha added.
