Man found dead near
Kombedu area in Kisumu.
A BODY of a middle aged man was this morning discovered near
Kombedu area within Kisumu West Sub-County.
The deceased was found behind Overcomers area next to the
railway line while covered with leaves.
Blood stains covered his face as some blood were oozing from
his nose, mouth and from the deep cut he sustained.
Residents who spoke to this writer said they was passing
nearby and discovered the body which has a deep cut in the forehead.
Henry Onyango, a community Policing member from Kombedu area
said he was among the people who discovered the body of the deceased at around
7:30 am today.
He said he informed the Administration Police officers at
Kochung near the Kisumu International Airport about the incident.
Police officers from Kisumu Central Police station visited
and examined the scene of crime.
A number of items were recovered from the deceased whose
identity is still not known that include a mobile phone, shs 500, aside mirror
suspected to belong to a motorbike.
The man wore a black jacket, a jungle green trouser with
gumboots on his feet and has his hair curled in rasta.
When the writer visited the scene, Police were still collecting
evidence as a large crowd of people were milling around the body forcing the
police officers to keep on pushing them to be at bay.
Police suspect the deceased might be a boda boda operator
since a key suspected to be for a motorbike was also found at the scene of crime.
Residents of the area said the issue of insecurity within
the area have started to be on the rise, adding that this is the third incident
where the third person has now been found dead within the area.
They said in August last year there was a similar incident
where a man was found dead just within the area, adding that in April this year
one body of a man was also discovered.
They have appealed to the police to enhance patrol in the
area so as to help in boosting security within.
They further appealed to the County Government of Kisumu to
ensure that the area is well lit with street lights especially near the railway
line at Overcomers and roundabout near Kisat area.
Police took the body to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and
Referral Hospital in Kisumu for postmortem to be conducted.
