Game Stores opens a new Supermarket in Kisumu.

The Games stores Kenya has today opened its third branch in Kisumu outside Nairobi city.

The new branch which is situated at the Mega City Mall along Kisumu-Nairobi Highway is now the third one after the two which are located in Nairobi.

Addressing the Press during the official opening of the facility, Games Stores Africa Director for Africa Richard Fuller said they are targeting customers in the larger Western Kenya region.

He said Gem stores are in 12 countries in Africa that includes South Africa, Kenya, Ghana and Nigeria among other countries.

He said they have been planning to expand their business opportunities in Kenya beyond Nairobi area hence has led to the opening of the new facility in Kisumu.

Fuller said this is a great opportunity for the company so as to explore the business opportunity in Kenya.

“We are looking forward to serve our customers well as we have now expanded our business outside because we intend to expand further to other regions,” Fuller said.

He said one of the uniqueness of the new Supermarket is that it can beat any by ten percent of the difference if a customer finds that the price of a commodity elsewhere is cheaper than theirs.

“We have different items ranging from electronics to fresh food stuffs among other household items,” he added.

He adds that the new facility has greatly helped in offering employment opportunities, adding that about 70 percent of the employment opportunities have been given to the locals.

Games Africa Marketing Manager Rytesh Moodley who is also in charge of the Kisumu branch opening said the plan to open the new branch in Kisumu was mooted after doing market research within the Lakeside city four months ago.

He said the area is very rich in tourists attraction hence the need to have a nice supermarket with all goods needed under one roof, adding that this is what prompted them to open the new branch.

“Game is a proudly Kenyan Company since many companies ranging from the media have gotten business from our so as to promote our business here in Kisumu which we have officially opened today,” he says.

He adds that as a retailer supermarket, they offer some items on labour basis, adding that they offer value added services.

“If you take items worth from 7,000 and above, you will be able to only pay 20 percent of the value to secure the product and you have up to three months interest free and this is the power of our labour offering services,” he added.

The new Supermarket is associated with the South African Retail Giant Game Stores to signalize the growing demand for mall space in the lakeside city.

Its timely opening is a big relief to consumers who are now spoilt for choice given the growing number of retail stores within the county.

This follows the successful launch of the retailers’ two outlets in Garden City and Karen Waterfront. The Supermarket now occupies prime space at Mega City with former tenants Nakumatt moved to the first floor.

With the Africities summit in the offing in 2021 the developments are key in transforming the county's economy.
