Lake Victoria South Water Works Development Agency’s CEO sent packing.

THE Board of Directors of the Lake Victoria South Water Works Development Agency has sent packing its Chief Executive Officer.

In a resolution passed after a meeting held yesterday July 1, 2019, the Agency has resolved that the Agency’s Chief Executive Officer Engineer Petronilla Ogut proceed with an immediate effect on July 1 this year for terminal leave to pave way for the recruitment and appointment of a new Chief Executive Officer.

In a resolution read by the Agency’s Board of Directors Chairman Paul Bii, the Agency said this is in compliance with the Circular OP/CAB9/1A of November 23, 2010 article {c} that says: “In the event that the Board does not recommend renewal of the contract, the CEO will be required to proceed on terminal leave to pave the way for the recruitment and appointment of the new CEO. This is important to ensure smooth transition.”

The Agency’s Board of Directors said the decision arose from extensive responses and guidance by the Chief Executive Officer to the Board of Directors on the resolution of June 21, 2019.

“This is particularly in compliance with the fair Administrative Action Act 2015 which requires that a party is heard before a determination is made,” read part of the resolution from the Agency’s Board of Directors.

The Agency’s Board of Directors resolved that the outgoing Chief Executive Officer will be entitled to all her benefits while on terminal leave until the expiry of her current contract.

The Board of Directors have appointed Engineer Daniel Odongo Oronje as the Chief Executive Officer in an acting capacity pending the ongoing recruitment of the substantive Chief Executive Officer.

The Board of Directors said the handover process commences with immediate effect.
