Siaya County Assembly passes appropriation
Bill that will allow it spend over 9B Budget.
The County Assembly of Siaya has today passed County’s Appropriation Bill, 2019 that will authorize the County Government of Siaya to spend Ksh. 9,230,789,589 in the Financial Year 2019/2020.
Of the Ksh. 9.2 billion, Ksh. 2.4 billion will be spent towards the projects and activities whose implementation could not be undertaken during the 2018/2019 Financial Year.
The County Assembly of Siaya has today passed County’s Appropriation Bill, 2019 that will authorize the County Government of Siaya to spend Ksh. 9,230,789,589 in the Financial Year 2019/2020.
Of the Ksh. 9.2 billion, Ksh. 2.4 billion will be spent towards the projects and activities whose implementation could not be undertaken during the 2018/2019 Financial Year.
The 6.8 billion will go towards the funding of
new prograM and activities during the 2019/2020 Financial Year.
The Bill, further gives the County Government of Siaya the green light to collect Ksh. 420 million from the local revenue. This is a 29.2% increment from the last financial year’s Ksh.325 million.
The Siaya County Appropriation Bill, 2019 also provides for the expenditure of Ksh. 465 million on the Ward based development projects as identified during the countywide public participation exercise that was spearheaded by the Assembly Budget Committee.

The
provision of this amount is in line with the Siaya County Equitable Development
Act, 2018, recently passed by the County Assembly.
According to the Bill, the County Health Department will take the Lion’s share of 27.9% of the County Budget, the Department of Public Works and Roads 12% while the Education and Youth Affairs Department will receive 8% of the approved 2019/2020 budget estimates.
