Former Ksm Governor bounces back to contest on MDG party Ticket

FORMER Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma will now contest the gubernatorial seat on another political party known as Movement for Democracy and Growth {MDG}.

Ranguma will now square it out with the current Kisumu Governor Prof Anyang Nyong’o of Orange Democratic Movement {ODM} Party after he was awarded direct nomination.

The MDG Party is associated with the current Ugenya Member of Parliament David Ochieng as its leader.

Ranguma says the MDG Party has helped in opening the democratic space in Nyanza region and beyond hence more people have chance to vie for various political posts.

He says it is very vital to have democracy and growth at the same time for Kenyans to move ahead.

Ranguma has painfully recounted what happened to him in 2017 during what he has termed as shambolic nomination process in ODM Party.

“As people were still voting and were on the queue to decide on the leaders they wanted in 2017 during the ODM Party primaries, someone who did not take part in the process was already declared the winner at a place known as Thurdibuoro,” Ranguma says.

He says the people of Kisumu will now have a choice to vote for the leaders they want and not the one imposed on them.

Ranguma says he will continue with the project he initiated during his tenure as the first Governor of Kisumu after the advent of devolution following the March 4, 2013 General Elections.

He says what has happened in Kisumu during the ODM party primaries is a strategic confusion to deny former Chief Administrative Secretary in the Ministry of East African Community Ken Obura to compete the current Governor during the exercise.

In 2017, Ranguma after floored during the ODM Party primaries went and vied for the seat as an independent candidate but the current Governor won the election after the High Court upheld his victory upon petition by Ranguma.

Also going to contest the August 9 polls in MDG party in Kisumu County is the current Kisumu West Member of Parliament John Olago Aluoch who is going to face the current Kisumu County Woman Representative Rosa Buyu who has been awarded the ODM party direct Ticket.

Willis Orowe Jakobura is also going to contest the Nyando Parliamentary seat on MDG party ticket and will face off with the current Nyando Member of Parliament Jared Okello who was also handed over direct ODM Party ticket.

About 13 politicians have also bagged the MDG Party ticket which they will use to contest for the seat of being Member of the County Assembly of Kisumu.

In Siaya County, renowned Radio personality Sellah Ayimba has declared her interest for the Siaya County Woman Representative seat and will contest using MDG Party ticket to face off Dr. Christine Ombaka who has bagged the ODM Party ticket directly.

Ayimba says she has what it takes to be the next Siaya County Woman Representative during the forthcoming polls.

She has asked the residents of Siaya County to vote her during the August 9 polls.

“I am asking you to vote for me because a vote cast for me is for all of us as residents of Siaya County,” Ayimba says.
