Rarieda MP in talks with wards aspirants to avoid post nomination fallout

Rarieda Member of Parliament Dr Paul Otiende Amollo has moved fast to unite all aspirants in the 26 wards in his electoral turf to avoid post nomination fall out.

Otiende convened a meeting of all the aspirants who won or lost in the wards within Rarieda and 23 turned up with only three absent with apology.

The MP asked both contestants to reconcile their differences and work together to consolidate the orange party grassroots democracy.

"I know we have come from hotly contested primaries. It was capital intensive and many of you spent to the coin. But that's gone. Let us now try to work together for the common good of all and our party," he says

Dr Otiende urged the contestants to bury the hatchet and now work together to market ODM leader Mr Raila Odinga for President.

He reminded them that all of them had the capability to lead and that despite the nomination outcome they still stood as chance to lead in the next elections or to be nominated and/or absorbed in either the county or national government should Odinga clinch the Presidency.

To this extent, Dr Otiende underscored the need to build bridges and not walls and emphasized on unity of purpose aimed at good.

Although, the nomination after math, results presented bitter pills to swallow, he told the contestants to adjust their' 'adrenaline hormones' to absorb the shock to overcome the challenges.

The Rarieda law maker told the aspirants that they should be focused to the bigger political prize and not worry about ward politics.

"Our eyes are trained on the ultimate political prize which is the Presidency. Anybody who loves Mr Odinga and wishes him well in his bid, should heed our passionate and humble appeal for unity," he said

Dr Otiende observed that without pulling together, little will be achieved and whipped all aspirants to toe Odinga's line assuring to them of immense benefit, when they rise to the pinaccles of power.

He said there was no need to begrudge anyone adding that in politics one wins today another tomorrow.

Otiende recalled his long and tortuous Journey to the National Assembly saying it was no mean feat but by faith, hope and resilience, he made it after several attempts in vein.

But he is not alone neither nor the ward aspirants.

Many politicians have undergone through similar experiences, without tiring each general elections cycle.

Others landed in nominations after the election, some in county government jobs and others in the national government parastatal boards as long as they played their cards well.

Same may happen to the aspirants some of whom are well educated or learned and so can fit anywhere if they have the right system and dial the right button.

The aspirants lauded the steps taken by the legislator as good.

They vowed to work with him to campaign for Odinga peacefully, saying the interest of the people of Rarieda and Odinga overrode their personal choices.

Consequently, they agreed to back Raila  Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta resolve to unite Kenyans to heal the deep seated ethnic divisions that polarized Kenya in the successive regimes.
