ODM party online Nomination
process is good, says aspirant
THE online nomination method being used by the Orange
Democratic Movement {ODM} Party in its nomination process is a good one, an Aspiring Member of Parliament
has said.
Kisumu East Aspiring Member of Parliament Lawyer James
Aggrey Mwamu has thanked the Party’s National Elections Board for coming up
with such a method for its nomination process that has kicked off.
Addressing the press
in Kisumu today at his office, Mwamu however says that the members of the Party
should be trained on the use of the online method through biometric so as to
avoid getting confusion during the nomination process.
He says such a civic education process to the party members
who will take part in the nomination process will make them do the right thing
and vote the candidates of their choices.
“We have seen this method being used in areas like Tana
River and it is a good one.The only thing that should now be done in areas
where our ODM Party has not carried out the nomination exercise is to educate
its members on the use of the online method as they will take part in the
process,” Mwamu says.
He says the process will ensure there is Free, fair, transparent and verifiable nomination process by the ODM Party.
Meanwhile, the recent attack on Azimio la Umoja Okoa Kenya
Presidential aspirant Raila Amollo Odinga continue to receive condemnation from
various leaders and political aspirants across the country.
Kisumu East Parliamentary aspirant Lawyer James Aggrey Mwamu
says the attack on Odinga is uncalled for and urged the Directorate of Criminal
Investigations to speed up investigations towards the matter.
Mwamu says political
violence should never be meted on any Politician across the country.
He says the days of political violence is long gone since
the law does not allow for such in the present society.
Mwamu says the youth should never allow themselves to be
misused during the electioneering period to engage in any act of lawlessness across
the country.
“We want to urge the youth never to allow themselves to be
used by any politician across the country to cause chaos in political rallies
or funerals
He says the stone and other crude weapons which might have
been used during the attack on Raila’s chopper could have even interfered with
its engine hence preventing it from flying and something worse would have
happened as this is seen as an attempted murder.
Mwamu urges politicians to exercise total political
tolerance during the electioneering period.
Mwamu at the same time has urged the National Government to
consider solving the problem of the acute fuel shortage across the country,
adding that many Kenyans are now suffering as a result of that.
A spot check by this writer in a number of petrol stations
in Kisumu City reveals that many motorists and boda boda riders spent the
better part of last night in various fueling station while wanting to get the
fuel but they did not success.
By 8:00 am today a number of petrol stations witnessed long
queues of motorists searching for fuel.
