Governor Nyong’o congratulate ODM Nominees while on  trip in India

 

Kisumu Governor Prof Peter Anyang Nyong’o has congratulated all the Orange Democratic Movement {ODM} party nominees for various positions in Kisumu County during the just concluded party’s primaries.

 

In his message through a press statement to news rooms today, the Kisumu Governor says he is happy with all those who have been nominated for the various positions that they will contest come August 9, General Elections.

 

“You are all the pride of the party. Through participating in the nomination process you have shown that you are committed to build the great ODM party led by our Party Leader Right Hon Raila Amolo Odinga the Fifth,” Nyong’o says.

 

Nyong’o has given his heartfelt encouragement to all the winners to represent the party and the people effectively when they enter the county Assembly, the National Assembly or the Senate.

 

“We shall all get together very soon to welcome you to this journey that we have to travel together,” he adds.

 

Meanwhile, Kisumu Governor Prof Anyang Nyong’o and First Lady Dorothy Nyong’o on their second day for a Business Summit in Kolcata, the capital of West Bengal state in India,joined Kenya's High Commissioner to India Willy Bett to meet a wide range of business men and industrialists interested in investing in Kisumu.

Among those he met were the Mayor of Kolkota and his cabinet, the President of the Merchants' Chamber of Commerce and Industry and his Governing Council as well as the Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamta Banerjee and her cabinet.

The discussions with the Chamber focussed on "Doing Business in Kenya.

 

After a detailed presentation by Mr Bett, the Chamber members concluded that both Kenya and West Bengal need to take advantage of their close relationship to cooperate more in investments and trade,” says Prof Nyong’o.

 

The Governor at the same time has invited the Chamber members to the 9th Africities Summit in Kisumu that will be held as from May 17 to 21 this year.

The Chamber Chairman Ranjib Kumar Kothari has promised to mobilize his members to attend the Summit.

The Chief Minister Mamta Benerjee accepted Governor Nyong'o's request for West Bengal State and Kisumu County to cement the relationship between the two governments by signing a Memorandum of Mutual Cooperation for Trade, Investments and Cultural Exchange.

The Governor and his team are attending the two day Bengal Global Business Summit aimed at Sustaining Bengal as one of the leading states in India in quest for a better tomorrow as a land of Endless Opportunities.
