Preparation completed for the ODM Party nominations in Kisumu

Preparations have been completed towards the Orange Democratic Movement {ODM} Party to carry out its primaries in Kisumu County tomorrow for various political positions.

ODM Party National Elections Board Member Commissioner Nchoe Syntei says all preparations have been put in place to ensure that the party carry out it primaries in Kisumu tomorrow on Tuesday April 19, 2022.

Addressing the media after meeting the aspirants seeking the party’s tickets in various positions ranging from Senator, Woman Representative, Members of Parliament and Members of the County Assembly, Commissioner Syntei said the ODM Party’s National Elections Board will ensure that the exercise is a success.

She says the National Elections Board has managed to map out various polling stations where some have been merged within the wards they exist from.

Syntei adds that a total of 1,200 police officers have been deployed to provide security within the polling stations and the County’s tallying center which will be at Tom Mboya Labour College.

She says the election will be conducted electronically where voters will be identified by the elections officials who have been deployed to the various polling stations within the 35 wards in Kisumu County, adding that they will vote using the gadgets to nominate people of their choices to represent the party in various positions.

The Commissioner says the party’s register for its members will be used during the nomination process, adding that no any other register will be used including those from IEBC.

“I want to tell the public that only registered members of ODM Party as per its registers will be allowed to take part in the nomination process and there will be no any other register to be used other  that the party’s one,” she says.

She adds that only those who have been put in the merged polling stations will be allowed to vote in such designated polling stations.

Orange Democratic Movement {ODM} Party will carry out its primaries in Kisumu County tomorrow and only the seat for woman representative, Senate and Members of the County Assembly seats will be contested.

The Seat of Kisumu Governor has already been given a direct ticket to the current Governor Prof Anyang Nyong’o to defend the seat in the August 9 polls.

There will be nomination process for the Member of Parliament seat in Kisumu Central, Muhoroni, Kisumu East and Nyakach while Nyando, Kisumu West and Seme constituencies are also said to have their current Members of Parliament given direct tickets to defend their seats.
