ODM Members in Kisumu East urged to turn up in large numbers for nomination

The Orange Democratic Movement {ODM} Party members in Kisumu East Constituency have been urged to turn up in large numbers and participate in the forthcoming nomination exercise to choose nominees of their choice.

Aspiring Member of Parliament Kisumu East on ODM Party ticket Lawyer James Aggrey Mwamu says this will enable the ODM Party members within the constituency to exercise their democratic rights and vote the people of their choice during the nomination process slated on Tuesday next week.

Addressing the residents of Ogango area within Kolwa Central ward in Kisumu East Constituency to popularize his candidature ahead of the party’s nomination exercise, Mwamu has requested the ODM party members to stand with him and nominate him as their choice to be the flag bearer for the Member of Parliament seat.

He says he has what it takes to be the their next Member of Parliament, adding that the electorates of Kisumu East should also consider electing him during the General Election that will be held on August 9 this year.

Mwamu has urged for a peaceful campaign ahead of the Party’s nomination exercise.

He says the Party will award the nomination certificate to one of the four contenders who had earlier paid the nomination fees but not to anyone else.

“I want to urge our ODM Party members to turn up in large numbers for the nomination exercise that will take place on Tuesday next week and vote for me as the nominee for the Member of Parliament seat. I promise to work with all the electorates to take Kisumu East constituency to a greater level that where it is now,” Mwamu says.

Lawyer James Aggrey Mwamu is campaigning to be the next Member of Parliament for Kisumu East Constituency on a platform of an 11 point Agenda that include proper utilization of National Government Constituency Development Funds {NGCDF}, having a people’s drive constituency’s strategic Plan, Improvement of Educational Standards, Improvement of Health facilities, recognition of Community Health Volunteers and Creation of Women’s Saccos to empower women.

Others include improvement of agriculture and food security, standing committee responsible for youth, sports and culture, representation, Oversight and legislation.

Mwamu is the Former President of the East African Law Society.

So far, a number aspirants have declared their interests for the Kisumu East Parliamentary seat and will square it out during the ODM Party Primaries to be held next week on Tuesday.

They include James Aggrey Mwamu, Nicholas Oricho, Charles Odhong, Nahshon Oguya.

The Kisumu East Parliamentary seat is currently held by Shakeel Shabir who is serving his third term in office as the Member of Parliament. He was elected as an Independent candidate.
