Aspiring MP Ogendo calls for
fair nomination process.
AN Aspiring
Member of Parliament in Kisumu Central Constituency has said they all expect a
free, fair and transparent Orange Democratic Movement{ODM} Party nomination process slated for next week in
entire Kisumu County.
Richard
Ogendo who is among the aspirants who will battle for the ODM party ticket in
the next week’s nomination exercise says he is optimistic that the Party’s
primaries will be conducted in a free, fair and transparent manner.
Addressing
the press in Kisumu on Thursday, Ogendo said those who plan to cause chaos
during this nomination exercise should not be allowed to do so.
He says he
what happened in Busia early this week is a big lesson that should be learnt.
Ogendo says nomination
that is not free, fair and transparent should never be accepted across the
board.
“We expect
free, fair and transpernt nomination as well as a credible elections come
August this year,” Ogendo says.
He urges the
youth to desist from being misused by politicians for selfish interests.
Ogendo says
if he wins the nomination and the election as well then he has a line up of
programs during his tenure as the next Kisumu Central Member of Parliament.
He singles
out promotion of individual talents among the youth, cleaning up the city,
promotion of sports as well as improving security as his priorities when
elected as the area next MP.
“No one will
accept to loose unfairly during this nomination process and this is why we are
appealing to the ODM National Elections board to ensure that this process is
credible above board,” adds Ogendo.
He says
already there is an assurance from the ODM party Leader Raila Odinga that the
Party primaries will be free and fair.
Ogendo says
if the Kisumu County ODM elections panel is allied to some candidates as
alleged then the process of nomination will not be free and fair.
On the issue
of Oluwo Reru{a term used to refer to those who travelled to Kisumu through the
railway line}, Ogendo says nothing is wrong with such groupings so long as they
have a common goal they are pursuing as a community
