No law barring
NASA from having their own tallying center says Oloo.
THERE is no law barring the National Super Alliance {NASA}
from having its own tallying center for monitoring the results of this year’s
General Elections,Former TNA Secretary General Onyango Oloo has said.
Oloo who decamped from TNA to ODM and seeking the Kisumu
Central Parliamentary seat on ODM party ticket has challenged the leadership of
jubilee party to quote which section of the law is barring political parties
and their candidates from having their
own tallying center for monitoring the results.
He said NASA will have its tallying centers right from the
grass root level since there is no law prohibiting it from having its tallying
center.
Speaking at Jomo Kenyatta Sports Ground today, Oloo claimed
that even during the 2013 General Elections, The National Alliance Party{TNA}
had their own tallying center which they usedto compare elections results with
that of IEBC.
Oloo said the agents of a political party represents the
candidates hence this qualifies them to also relay the results to their
candidates either electronically or manually.
“Anybody claiming that by political parties having parallel
tallying centers is illegal should tell us which section of the law they are
referring to when laying such claims,” Oloo said.
He said any political party should have its tallying center
and this is how it will know how voting will have been done in different areas.
He said that unless Jubilee has a sinister move is when it
can tell other political parties not to constitute their tallying centers to
relay results they will have gotten from different areas.
“Unless Jubilee has something sinister, there have no reason
to fear the issue of Nasa having its tallying its own tallying center,” he
added.
He said as an aspiring MP for Kisumu Central, he will have
his own tallying center to monitor how results
On the issue of ODM party nominations, Oloo said he supports
those whom the party’s National Elections Board has fronted to conduct the
primaries.
He said so long as the party’s primaries will be free and
fair, he will support whoever wins the nomination and those who will be
conducting the exercise.
Oloo’s sentiments on ODM party nominations comes barely a few
days after a section of the party’s
aspirants have raised concerns that those who have been fronted to carry out
the exercise in Kisumu County will be favoring some candidates because they are
their cronies.
