Governor Ranguma
tells off critics accusing him of planning to ditch ODM.
KISUMU County Governor Jack Ranguma has told off his critics
who have accused him of wanting to ditch the Orange Democratic Movement {ODM}
Party.
Ranguma said he has no plans to ditch the party ahead of its
primaries slated this month so as to pick various candidates on various posts
for the August 8, this year’s General Election.
Addressing the press at Sunset Hotel on Monday, Ranguma said
he will participate in the Party’s primaries slated this April 24 and will
emerge the winner so as to be its Gubernatorial candidate for Kisumu County.
Governor Ranguma is seeking for re-election as the Kisumu
County Governor for his second and final term in office having been elected as
its first governor on March 4,2013 General Election, an election that ushered
in devolution Syetem of Governance brought about by the promulgation of the
Country’s constitution on August 27,2010.
If re-elected as the Governor in the August 8 this year,
Ranguma will have served his second and final term in office as the first
Kisumu County Governor till 2022 thus ending the constitutional limit of two five-year
terms as an elected governor.
He says those who are peddling rumors that he wants to ditch
the party are cowards and thinks that they own the party.
“I am here to win the ODM party primaries and not intending
to move out of the party and those who are spreading such like rumors are not
realistic in what they are trying to peddle to the public,” Ranguma says.
He says his track record speaks for itself hence this will
surely propel him to be re-elected for his second and final term in office till
2022.
Ranguma says under his leadership, Kisumu County has
undertaken various flagship projects ranging from road networks to other forms
of development within the various parts of the county since he took over as its
first Governor.
The Governor adds that he will continue to implement his
seven point pillars for development ranging from food security to construction
of water dams among others.
On food security, Ranguma says he plans to empower more
farmers across the county to ensure that there is sufficient food for the
residents.
“We will invest heavily in equipment which will help us as a
county in minimizing the post-harvest losses by the farmers and the residents
as a whole,” Ranguma adds.
On Irrigation, he says plans are underway to construct a new
dam at KatukOdeyo Village in Nyakach Sub-County so as to help in the irrigation
process in the entire Nyando basin.
He says the county Government will also construct a dam in
Koru area within Muhoroni Sub-County so as to help in the storage of water as
well as irrigation purposes.
