Ranguma outlines his achievements, seeks re-election.
KISUMU COUNTY Governor Jack Ranguma has urged residents of the county to re-elect him so as to be able to continue with his development plan he initiated when he was elected in 2013.
Ranguma says he is very much ready to continue implement development projects he initiated after being elected as Kisumu’s first Governor when devolution was ushered in four years ago.
Speaking during a radio talk show at Radio Name Lolwe on Thursday, Ranguma says he came up with a seven pillar development plan which he has implemented part of it successfully.
Ranguma says his Government has already embarked on the issue of ensuring that the county is food secure which is one of his major pillar on development.
He says already about 23 tractors are on the ground ploughing rice fields as well as maize fields.
Ranguma says it is very prudent for Kisumu County to feed its residents because it is capable of doing so.
He says the county Government has successfully implemented the bursary where a total of 530 students are fully sponsored in their secondary school education.
He says on health sector, the County Government has been able to turn a number of dispensaries to health centers as well as building 45 new health centers, adding that each of the seven sub-county now has an ambulance.
Ranguma says on Education again, the county Government has been able to build about 150 Early Childhood Development{ECDs} within the county, adding that they are also offering feeding programs to the ECDs kids within the schools.
On roads, Ranguma says they have been able to open up rural Roads within various sub-counties, adding that there are a number of challenges they have faced on roads.
On the provision of water, Ranguma says the county Government has been able to give clean drinking water to a number of residents as a social investment.
He says he has gotten money from the European Investment Bank where he intends to implement a serious water project from River Yala in Siaya County.
He says the County Government will be able to build big tanks at Maseno area where it will be treated and will be able to serve areas of Seme, Lower Kisumo area and will also be pumped up to Ahero.
“We are only looking at the way leave especially where the water pipes will pass through to Kisumu from River Yala,” he says.
On the issue of Kisumu Urban Project{KUP}, Ranguma says the County Government is able to implement a number of projects under it at a cost of 4 Billion which is from the French Government.
He says part of the funds was to be used for the solid waste management but has not been able to do this since it is not enough.
He says the funds is was also meant to construct a number of markets including Kibuye, Otonglo,Kibuye and Kiboswa Markets,adding that the Kiboswa one will not be included because this funds is not enough.
He has singled out five modern schools within the county which is being constructed namely at Got Nyabondo, Angira, Rweya,Rota  Primary schools among others, adding that he will commission these schools next month because they are nearly completion.
He also says they have put up a number of floodlights within the slums and others area.
“It is against this background that I want to sincerely plead with you so as to re-elect me for my second and final term as the Governor,”Ranguma adds.
He urges the residents to nominate him during the ODM party Nomination slated next week and thereby re-elect him in the August 8, this year’s General Election.
