Address problems facing youth in a concerted effort manner, ACK Head says.

Problem facing the youth in the country should be addressed in a concerted approach manner, a clergy has said.

Anglican Church of Kenya Arch Bishop Most Rev.Jackson Ole Sapit says a number of the youth in the country are faced with a lot of problems ranging from drug abuse among others.

Speaking at Saints Stephens cathedral in Kisumu today during a retirement service for the Bishop of Maseno South Diocese Right Rev Francis Mwayi Abiero, Sapit said a recent research by the World Health Organization projects that due to life style of the youth, 30 percent will not be able to live to celebrate their 40th Birthday, adding that this is not good news at all.

He says there is need for concerted efforts both by parents and the church to inculcate the Good values to children as the future leaders.

The Clergy said as much as parents are busy looking for resources; they should also spare time to spend with their children.

The Clergy at the same time has urged Kenyans to turn back to God to fight corruption and other vices in the country.

Arch Bishop Sapit said if only citizens would return to God then they will be able to fight the vice.

"We will try to fight in our own but unless we submit to the will of God, we will not succeed. In the book of Peter says when we submit to His will then He will establish us,"he says.

He asks the ministry of education to allow children who have been sent home due to unrest to go back to school.

He says through the chaplaincy in schools will implement good values upon students in those schools.

The Anglican Church of Kenya Bishop for Maseno South Dr. Francis Mwayi Abiero is retiring after attaining the age of 65 that is the mandatory age for retirement for the ACK Bishops.

He has served the diocese for 24 years since he was elected in 1994 taking over from now the late Bishop Dr. Henry John Okullu who retired then.

During the next month of August, the diocese of Maseno South will hold an election through the Electoral College to elect a new Bishop to take over from Bishop Abiero.

On November 4 this year, the new Bishop-elect will be consecrated to take over from the retired Bishop.

ACK Arch Bishop Jackson Sapit has described the outgoing Bishop for Maseno South Diocese as hard working.

He has urged the Bishop who will be elected after Bishop Dr. Abiero to help take the diocese to greater heights.

Ends.
