Most Hotels in Kisumu
fully booked ahead of Obama’s visit to Kogelo.
A NUMBER of Hotels have been fully booked in Kisumu City as
the region awaits the arrival of the Former United States President Barack
Obama’s visit to Alego Kogelo in Siaya County on Monday.
This is said to be so after a number of guests associated
with the former President’s visit within the region have booked a number of
Hotels within the Lake side city.
Speaking to this write, Chairman Western Kenya Hospitality
leaders Association and Manager Impala Eco Lodge Robinson Anyal said that some
top hotels are fully booked for Saturday and Sunday in relation to visit by the
Former United States President.
He said a facility like Impala Eco lodge has been booked at
70 percent as at yesterday.
Anyal added that Hotels such as Acacia Premier, Imperial
Hotel and Sovereign have fully been booked ahead of former President Barack
Obama’s visit.
“I can confirm that some top hotels are fully booked for
Saturday and Sunday. Jambo Impala Eco lodge is at 70 percent while Imperial,
Acacia and Sovereign hotels are fully booked,” Anyal said.
The former United States President is expected in the
country tomorrow where he will land in Nairobi and hold talks with President
Uhuru Kenyatta and Nasa Leader Raila Odinga.
Upon his arrival in Kisumu, Obama is expected to hold talks
with Kisumu Governor Prof Peter Anyang Nyong’o as the County Government of
Kisumu have planned to beam live the events in Kisumu and Kogello in Siaya
County during Obama’s visit.
Big TV screens is to be mounted at Jomo Kenyatta Sports
Ground for the public to watch the Obama’s visit live both in Kisumu and
Kogelo. Live coverage of the event is also expected at Acacia Hotel.
He will then travel to Alego Kogello via Kisumu City where
he will officially participate in the official opening of a community center
for the youth.
The former US President is then expected to depart to South
Africa where he will give lectures before embarking on going back to the United
States of America.
This will be the fourth time Obama will be visiting Kenya after he visited the country first in 1987, 1992 and in 2015 July when he was serving his second term at White House as the 44th President of the United States of America.
