We will not condone corruption in our offices, solicitor General says.

THE Office of the Attorney General will not condone any form of corruption in their National and regional offices countrywide, Solicitor General Ken Ogeto have said.

Ogeto says the Government has step up the fight against corruption in all the departments in the Government and the State law is also included.

Speaking in Kisumu when he toured the Nyanza regional Attorney General Chambers, Ogeto said his office is firmly there to ensure that the office of the AG discharges its mandates in accordance to the law.

He says the regional offices should ensure that they serve the public diligently without engaging in corrupt activities.

He says the issue of corruption is still a big challenge and the government is trying to get rid of it.
“Part of what I am going to do as I go round the regional offices is to ensure that I make it very clear that the officers working there do not engage in any act of corruption at all,” Ogeto says.

He urges those working in the state law offices to ensure that they serve the public in accordance to the law.

He says the public expects them not to engage in any act of corruption.

He says some issues like Budget and personnel are some of the issues to be dealt with in the state law office.

“The issue of personnel and budget does not affect the state law office alone but the Government at large,” Ogeto adds.

Ogeto adds that the office of the AG is fully committed in ensuring that cases where government has been sued be resolved speedily and those victims who have won the case be compensated promptly once funds are available.

“The office of the AG is fully committed that cases where the Government has been sued and resolved speedily. We are trying to establish a fund within the office of the AG which will pull resources to this kitty of compensating the victims of such cases.
