A PARLIAMENTARY Candidate in Muhoroni constituency within Kisumu County has called for peaceful campaigns during this electioneering period.

Reverend John Obera who is contesting for the Muhoroni Parliamentary seat on Amani National Congress {ANC} Party says it is prudent for all the Parliamentary candidates to conduct peaceful campaigns ahead of this year’s August 8 General Election.

Speaking to the press in Kisumu on Wednesday, Obera has singled out a situation where supporters of two politicians engaged in a scuffle within Masogo Market in the constituency which left some people injured saying such was very unfortunate incident.

He urges the supporters to be very tolerant and play politics of maturity during this electioneering period.

He says politics will come and go but the area residents will always remain hence the need to help in preaching peace and messages of cohesiveness.

“This act of violence is not good for us both socially and politically hence should be shunned at all cost because even business can’t do well where there is political violence,” Obera says.

He urges the local Administration to take action and investigate those who are perpetuating violence.

“I want to urge the local administration to investigate and take action against those people who instigate violence during this electioneering period,” he adds.

Obera has urged the electorates to vote in good leaders come August 8 this year when the General Election will be held.

“As the electorates, you have the full powers in voting the good leaders you want as well as rejecting the bad ones who normally incite people to violence.August 8 is just a few days away where you will choose good leaders,” he further says.
