A NUMBER of Orange Democratic Movement {ODM} Party Parliamentary
candidates in the seven constituencies of Kisumu County have vehemently
dismissed calls by a section of Jubilee Party leaders wanting Nasa Presidential
flag bearer Raila Odinga probed over alleged incitement to Maasai Community
recently.
Led by Jared Okello and Nicholas Oricho of Nyando and Kisumu
East ODM Party Parliamentary candidates respectively, the candidates say they
take particular exception to what they have termed as careless and diversionary
statement by some jubilee leaders linking Nasa Presidential candidate Raila
Odinga to allegations of hate speech and incitement in Kajiado area recently.
Addressing the press at Kisumu Hotel on Tuesday, the ODM Parliamentary
candidates say the Nasa Flag bearer only offered a free piece of advice to the
Maasai community on the need to preserve their land for their children and
grandchildren and avoid the allure of cheap money in exchange for this most
important commodity.
They say every Kenyan understood the Nasa Flag bearer’s
statement and has taken it as a piece of advice.
They have now dismissed the call by some of the Jubilee party leaders to the National Cohesion and Integration Commission’s Chairman Francis Ole Kaparo to institute investigations on Raila’s sentiment.
“Suffice to say that NCIC is a constitutional and independent
body that must operate devoid of interference and any encumbrances whatsoever.Of
course Kenyans are inherently uneasy with persons or offices that owe their
allegiance and jobs to any political interest of any authority,”they say.
They say the land issues with related injustices suffered
since time immemorial are clearly captured in the Ndung’u Land report as well
as Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Commission {TJRC}, claiming that these
reports are kept by the current government under the wraps and will not make
them public.
They claim that the Jubilee Party has ran out of policies to
sell to the ever increasing enlightened electorates hence have resorted to
propaganda which have been met with rejection across many parts of the country.
“Recently they tried to bring back the ICC agenda but it
quickly hit back the wall and their defense over the issue of sky rocketing of
essential items, lack of basic flour for Ugali, roughshod corruption nand
myriads ill lacks conviction hence the ground is fast sinking beneath them,”
they adds.
They say Odinga has the greatest potential to unite the
country and heal wounds that have threatened the grand march to national
greatness.
“It is beyond dispute that Odinga is widely seen as the
candidate least likely to break our delicate regional and national fabric which
is in desperate need of restoration,” they further say.

That was a brilliant statement from our able leaders. God bless Kisumu county.
