Kisumu West hands over shs 5million maternity wing to the County Government.

Kisumu West Constituency Members of the National Government Constituency Development Fund have handed over a newly built health facility of shs 5million to the county government of Kisumu.

Through their patron who is also the area Member of Parliament John Olago Aluoch, the National Government CDF Committee members presented the keys to facility to the Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma in a ceremony that was pomp and colorful.

Speaking during the official handing over ceremony on Thursday, Olago said they have built a new maternity wing at the health facility which will be of greater help of expectant mothers.

Olago says the CDF Committee has handed over the facility at Usoma Village to the County Government of Kisumu so as to help in doing the necessary.

Olago says the facility will also help in bringing services closer to the people within the area without trekking for longer distances especially to the expectant mothers seeking both Antenatal and post natal cares services.

Kisumu County Governor Jack Ranguma who was accompanied by the Committee Executive Member in charge of Health Dr. Elizabeth Ominde Ogaja and her Information and Communications counterpart Michael Onyango says the facility is a major milestone within the area in terms of improving the health facilities.

Ranguma says plans are underway by the county Government to elevate the facility from a dispensary to a health center which will make it benefit from getting drugs from Kenya Medical Supplies Agency{KEMSA}.

“I am very much thankful for the facility which has been handed over to us by the Kisumu West Constituency and it will be of greater benefit to the people,” Ranguma says.

He says the County Government has built 25 new health facilities within various parts of the county hence the one handed over to them is the 26th one from Kisumu West Constituency development fund.

Ranguma says once re-elected as the governor during the August 8 General Elections, he will continue to build more health facilities as well as others development within the various parts of the county.

He says this will be done so as to bring health services closer to the people by ensuring that health facilities are not more than 3 kilometers away from the people.

Ranguma says plans are also underway to give stipend to Community Health Workers within the county.
He says already this has been passed under the supplementary budget which will now jumpstart the payment to CHWs beginning May this year.

The Committee Executive Member in charge of Health Dr. Elizabeth Ominde Ogaja says they will now equip the new facility with the items it is lacking so as to help in giving services to the public.
