Nyong’o says allocation to devolution will be increased to 45 percent.

Nyong’o says allocation to devolution will be increased to 45 percent.

KISUMU Gubernatorial Aspirant Prof. Peter Anyang Nyong’o has said that the allocation to devolved system of Governance will be increased to 45 percent from 15 percent.

Nyong’o says the current allocation of 15 percent to the devolution is not enough and should be increased.

Speaking during a Talk show in one of the local FM Radio stations this Thursday , Nyong’o said when the National Super Alliance {NASA} forms the next government under Raila Odinga as the next President after this August Polls  it will increase this allocation to 45 percent.

Nyong’o says he has a robust plan for Kisumu County when he becomes the next Governor and one of them is to first form the Village Council where the residents will give their views on how they want to be governed and what type of development they want.

“It is through this council that the residents’ right from the village will tell the county Government on what type of development they want being initiated,” Nyong’o says.

Prof Nyong’o says his team will have a five year Integrated Development plan which will guide the county Government of Kisumu on the various issues of development.

“Integrated Development plan must be put in place when I form the next Government in Kisumu County,” Nyong’o says.

He says will develop Roads and put in place a County Roads maintenance team to check all the roads which has been constructed within the county.

He wants to turn around the economy of Kisumu County by ensuring that Kisumu City is 24-hour economy.

“On issues of health, I want to put proper health care system in place within the county and I want to see on how we can utilize the NHIF even to carter for the elderly people whom most of them have not accessed the fund,” Nyong’o adds.

Nyong’o says Community Health Workers within the county does a good work in the health care system and he will try and help in giving salary to them and this will motivate them in the line of their duties.

He says the issue of Solid waste management will be addressed and relocation of the Kachok dumpsite.

He also says that his team has a greater plan to motivate the self-employed entrepreneurs in Kisumu by ensuring that they are given conducive environment for working. This will include Boda Boda, small scale business people among others.

He says his team will also want to ensure that the Collapsed industries like Kicomi and the collapsed sugar factories are revived.

“I want to empower farmers to grow cotton for the Kicomi as well as trying to woo more investors to help in bringing more companies and this will help to create more employment opportunities for the people of Kisumu County,”Nyong’o further says.

Nyong’o says having an investment conference in Kisumu as this is very important and has never happened here since devolution kicked off.

“When I was the Minister for economic planning, I ensure that the Country had various investment conferences and this made us to wake up as a country,” he says.

He says he also intends to digitalize Land registration within Kisumu County and this will help to bring sanity in the land sector.

Nyong’o further says his team plan to zone Kisumu City for proper development so as to allow various development to take place in various areas within the city.

Nyong’o says he will launch his blue print this month of June and the team is fully prepared so as to tell the public what development projects they will carry out in Kisumu County.

Nyong’o who is still the current Kisumu County Senator say he has a team which will be ready to work for the public and not those who are for their selfish gains.

“I will ensure that my team work in accordance to the various acts like Public Finance Management Act, County Government Act among other and my team must be ready to work in accordance to these acts,” he adds.

Prof.Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o is expected to present his nomination papers to the IEBC at Tom Mboya Labour College in Kisumu tomorrow on Friday  so as to seek clearance as the ODM Party Gubernatorial candidate in the forthcoming polls in August.

He will battled it out with the current Governor Jack Ranguma who is seeking re-election as an independent candidate once cleared by the IEBC later today.Ranguma has since been declared to defend the seat as an independent candidate.

Also expected to be in the race is Christine Atieno Otieno of Jubilee Party and Peter Charles Omollo of Amani National Congress}ANC} who are yet to be cleared also.

They are expected to be cleared as presentation of nomination papers by those aspiring as governors starts today.
