Leaders condemn attack on Nyong’o Team in Kondele.

VARIOUS Political leaders have strongly condemned the yesterday police attacking Kisumu ODM Gubernatorial candidate Professor Peter Anyang’ Nyongo’s entourage in Kondele.

It is alleged that a section of the Quick Response Team{QRT}from the Administration Police wing lobbed tears canisters to Nyong’o and his team who was addressing the public after he was cleared to contest as the ODM party Gubernatorial candidate in Kisumu County.

Those who have fired salvo include Kisumu County current Deputy Governor Ruth Odinga who has vehemently condemned the police for their actions and wants the incident immediately investigated.

Speaking at Jomo Kenyatta Sports Ground during a public Rally to marshal support for the ODM party candidates during the forth-coming polls, Odinga said the action by the police is uncalled for.

She says they have planned a peace procession in a bid to meet the public after Prof.Nyong’o has been cleared by IEBC to run as the ODM party gubernatorial candidate in Kisumu County.

She says police should tell the public about their action where they have tear gassed Nyongo’s entourage.

“I want to appeal to the administration Police officer in charge of QRT in Kisumu County to tell the public the reasons as to why the team has lobbed tear gas canisters at us in Kondele while holding a peaceful procession,” Ruth says.

Nyando Member of Parliament Fred Outa who is vying for the seat of Senator in Kisumu County has also condemned the attack terming it barbaric and uncalled for especially at this time of electioneering period.

Outa has urged the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet to immediately launched investigation into the incident and take action against those police officers for such actions.

Prof. Nyong’o who also addressed the crowd also condemned the police for such actions and said proper investigations should be carried out to ascertain the motive behind the attack.
