Call for the arrest
of those behind Nyongo’s attack in Kondele Last Friday.
A SECTION of Kisumu City residents now want the police to
immediately arrest those people who caused chaos at Kondele by throwing stones
and tear gas to the convoy of ODM Party Gubernatorial Candidate Prof.Peter Anyang’ Nyongo’s convoy last Friday.
Through the Kisumu City Residents Voice{KICIREVO}, the
residents want the Kisumu County Police Commander Titus Yoma to apprehend all the
suspects in regard to the incident.
In a letter dated June 4, 2017, Kisumu City Residents
Chairman Audi Ogada says that it beats all logic and at the same time
dissatisfying at the manner in which some well-known hired goons and some
police officers allegedly conducted merciless attack and seriously injuring
several citizens among them a woman.
Ogada in his letter has accused the police of remaining
silent on this matter without taking actions against the suspects.
“We express our total displeasure, dejection and
disappointments once again at the barbaric, brutal inhuman, unlawful and repressive
conduct of the police officers who teargas a convoy of Hon. Nyong’o, Hon Outa’s
last Friday after presenting their papers to IEBC,” part of the letter reads.
Ogada has given the Kisumu County Police Commander three
days to act on the issue to arrest all the suspects in this matter, do
investigations and arraign them before court for prosecution.
“We are also putting to you on notice that should you fail
to act within the reasonable time then we shall be compelled to name two senior
police officers who have been here since the last General Election and they
have been retained to ensure that they deal with our people ruthlessly and in
total disregard of the law they used during the last year’s IEBC demos where a
number of people were killed, maimed or permanently disabled," said Ogada in his letter.
Ogada alleged that the two police officers are sponsored by
some politicians in Nyanza region to deal with their rivals accordingly.
He has also called upon the Independent Policing Oversight Authority{IPOA}to take up this matter and investigate it with the seriousness it deserves.
Efforts to reach Kisumu County Police Boss Titus Yoma to comment on this matter proved futile as he could not answer phone call.
