Police Investigates Nyando funeral incident-County Commissioner.

POLICE in Kisumu County have commenced an immediate investigation into the recent incident at a funeral in Nyando Sub-County where Nyando Member of Parliament and ODM Kisumu County Senatorial Candidate Fred Outa was heckled and chased by unruly youth.

Kisumu County Commissioner Maalim Mohamed says the County’s CID team have commenced investigation to know who and what actually caused the chaos.

Address the press in Kisumu during a meeting with all the Chiefs, their Assistants together with the seven Deputy County Commissioners, Maalim has urged anyone with information to volunteer and record a statement in regard to the last Saturday incident in any of the police station within the county.

He says once police conclude investigating the matter then all the suspects will be arrested.

“What happened in Ahero during last Saturday at the funeral of a former MP is now with the police and investigation is ongoing hence anyone with information volunteer and record statement with the police,” Maalim says.

Last Saturday during the funeral of Former Nyando MP James Miruka Owuor, chaos erupted and a section of youth heckled and chased Nyando MP Fred Outa who left the venue hurriedly without addressing the mourners.

Trouble started when East Kano/Wawidhi MCA Moses Ochele who was addressing the mourners started castigating the recently held ODM party Nominations claiming that it was shambolic.

This did not go down well with Nyando MP Fred Outa who is also the ODM Party nominee for the senatorial seat as he rose to go next to Ochele but the youth started heckling and booing the legislator.

This made an abrupt disruption at the funeral and the Nyando MP was to be whisked away by his security details who equally fired in the air to scare away the unruly youth.

Outa later reportedly recorded a statement with the police while claiming his life is in danger since a bullet fired had shattered his car’s windscreen.

Maalim also says they are investigating an aspect where some private firearms holders licensed by the Government are misusing their firearms and even offer security to politicians.

He says once found, the Government will surely revoke the licenses of those private firearm holders who misuse them.

Maalim at the same time says the Government is on high alert and will ensure that it deals with those who want to breach the peaceful co-existence.

He has urged politicians who are vying for various positions to help in maintaining peace during this electioneering period.

“I want to urge all those vying for various positions to be part of the peace process and let them campaign peacefully,” he says.

The Administrator says those candidates vying for various positions should adhere to the electoral code of conduct which they signed when they were being cleared recently by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission {IEBC}.

He has urged the chiefs to be very proactive and work with the various law enforcement agencies to ensure there is continues peaceful existence.

Maalim finally says the government is keenly monitoring on how the traders are selling it subsidized Maize flour at shs 90.

He says already some unscrupulous traders have been arrested for charging highly the price of the Government subsidized maize flour at a Ahero.

“As a government, we are keenly monitoring on how the traders sell the subsidized maize flour at shs 90.Already a number of traders have been arrested for inflating the price of the commodity for no apparent reason,” he says.
