TEACHERS within Kisumu County supports Prof. Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o’s bid to become the next Governor,Nyong’o’s Running mate Dr. Mathew Owili has said.

Dr.Owilli said teachers within Kisumu County are fully supporting their bid as the next Governor and Deputy Governor respectively.

Speaking at Chulaimbo Secondary school during the Kenya Union of Post Primary Teachers { Kuppet}AGM, Dr. Owili said teachers have resolved that they will vote out the current Kisumu County Governor Jack Ranguma  replacing him with Prof. Nyong’o during the August polls.

He says despite Ranguma picking the Nyando Knut Executive Secretary Ephraim Onyango Kanang’a as his running, a number of teachers do not support the move which is seen as trying to hoodwink them to vote back the current regime.

He claims that the interest of teachers are not taken care of under the current regime in Kisumu County, adding that the next regime of Prof. Nyong’o will take care of their interests.

He says teachers are also community members hence are also affected as members of the community when there is a rot in the society.

“The nomination of one Mr. Kananga cannot sanitize the rot that has been witnessed in the county of Kisumu and we have resolve to replace the current regime with one that can respond to the needs of the people,” he says.

He says that Kananga’s nomination cannot be used to hoodwink the public in Kisumu that his nomination will make things better.

Dr. Owilli reiterates that the electorates in Kisumu will vote six piece pattern from the ward to national level.

“I want to state it here that the electorates will vote our team where six piece voting pattern is needed beginning from voting our Presidential Candidate Raila Odinga, Prof. Nyong’o as the Governor, Rosa Buyu as women Rep, Fred Outa as senator and the electorates in the seven constituencies will vote the ODM Party candidates as well as all the MCAs candidates with ODM Party,” he adds.

He has urged the electorates to vote in Prof Anyang’ Nyong’o as the next Governor of Kisumu County so as to steer up development within the county as the second Governor.

Eric Duya who contested the Nyando Knut Branch executive Secretary’s position but lost to Kananga says his support for Nyong’os camp is not tied with his loss to the Knut elections last year.

He says Prof. Nyong’os team will carry the day come August 8 polls hence urged teachers to rally behind Prof. Nyong’o and Dr. Mathew as his running mate.

Duya has dismissed claims by a section of teachers within the county who has termed his move to offer support for Nyong’o that he is doing so after he contested the seat as Nyando Branch Knut Executive Secretary and lost to Kananga hence cannot be in the same camp as Kananga.

He says his is an informed decision and will stick to Nyong’os team until they will win in the August 8 polls.

Prof Peter Anyang Nyong'o, the ODM Party candidate for gubernatorial seat has picked Dr. Mathew Owilli as his running mate from Upper Nyakach in Nyakach Sub-County while Kisumu Governor  Jack Ranguma who is seeking to be re-elected as an Independent candidate has also picked Ephraim Kananga who also hails from Nyakach but from the lower side within the Nyakach Sub-County.

Also in the Kisumu County Gubernatorial race include Atieno Otieno who is contesting on a Jubilee Party ticket and Peter Charles Omollo who is contesting on Amani National Congress.
