THE Voice of Salvation and Healing Church {VOSH} International has witnessed the consecration of its new Arch-Bishop Dr. Winnie Julia Awino Owiti in a ceremony that has been very pomp and colorful.

The new Arch-Bishop has succeeded Arch-Bishop Silas Owiti who has been incapacitated.

In a pomp and colorful ceremony held at Kisumu Day High School Ground and attended by Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma, Nasa Flag-bearer Raila Odinga’s wife Ida Odinga, Independent Candidate for Kisumu Senatorial seat James Ochola Ogoda among other dignitaries, the Church Members drawn from Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania converged to witness the colofurl ceremony.

The new Arch-Bishop was consecrated exactly 1:30 pm yesterday so as to take over from Arch- Bishop Silas Owiti and she will now be the second Arch- Bishop of the church after Owiti who has been at the helm of the church since early 60s starting as a priest.

Addressing the gathering during the occasion, Ida Odinga described the elevation of Dr. Winnie Owiti as  the new Arch-Bishop of the church as a major milestone towards women leadership in the church.

She says this is a great honor for Kenya and the world as a whole because history is made.

“I want to state it here that this is a great honor for our country and the world at large because a woman has been consecrated as a new Arch Bishop of this great church of Voice of Salvation and Healing Church International,” she says.

She says this is an office with a very heavy responsibility and urged the people to give their full support for the new Arch-Bishop while undertaking her new roles as the Head of the Church within the region.

“This office where Arch-Bishop Dr. Winnie Owiti has been consecrated to is one with very heavy responsibilities hence requires the full support of everyone to help her look after the flock,” she adds.

Mrs. Odinga at the same time urged the electorates to come out in large numbers and vote wisely during the August 8 polls but was very quick to drum up support for her husband who is the Nasa flag-bearer.

Kisumu Governor on his part congratulated the newly consecrated Arch-Bishop of the Voice of Salvation and Healing Church.

He says the church as a community has a greater role to play in the society hence its leadership can not be ignored.

Ranguma also took his time to urge politicians to play mature politics and sell their various policies to the electorates thus this will enable them make informed decision.

Arch-Bishop Dr. Winnie Julia Awino Owiti will now be the second Arch Bishop of the church now replacing Arch-Bishop Silas Owiti.

She was elected by the Church’s Electoral College of Bishops this year where she was installed and now she has been consecrated as the Arch Bishop of the Church.

More than 5,000 church followers attended the ceremony that marks the beginning of a new era in the church’s history spanning five decades.
