Gubernatorial aspirant’s supporters in Kisumu say they are not planning any chaos

SUPPORTERS of a gubernatorial aspirant in Kisumu County have said they are not planning any form of chaos ahead of Azimio La Umoja rally to be presided over by ODM Party leader Raila Amollo Odinga on Friday this week.

The Supporters of Ken Obura, former Chief Administrative Secretary in the Ministry of East African Community who has declared his interest to run for the gubernatorial seat on ODM Party ticket say their opponents are busy peddling lies that they are out to cause chaos during the forthcoming Azimio La Umoja rally in Kisumu and that is not true at all.

Addressing the press in Kisumu today to refute claims by a section of Kisumu County ODM Party officials led by its chairman Prof Ayiecho Olweny and Kisumu Central ODM Party Chairman Seth Ochieng Kanga that Ken Obura and his team are out to cause chaos during the said meeting, the supporters said they are peace-loving citizens of Kisumu County and true members of ODM Party hence do not plan any mayhem during the said political rally.

They say they fully in ODM Party and anyone trying to segregate them is doing a disservice to them, adding that they fully welcome and will participate during the said rally in Kisumu.

Former Kondele Ward Representative Gabriel Ochieng said what the ODM Party officials from Kisumu County claimed about them and their candidate is misleading, misinforming and baseless.

Ochieng who has also declared his interest to recapture the Kondele Ward seat as its Member of the County Assembly said Ken Obura is very peaceful and a law-abiding citizens thus has no plans to incite the youth against any fellow politician or disrupt their political rallies.

They say their opponents should come out and sell their policies to the electorates rather than engaging in mudslinging politics, adding that their candidate has been doing so peacefully without interfering with any politician.

They have told Market/Mlimani ward Representative Seth Ochieng Kanga who is also serving as the ODM Party Chairman of Kisumu Central constituency to resign as the Chair of ODM Party in Kisumu Central constituency as had earlier been directed by the Party’s National office that any party official apart from its National Executive Committee {NEC} members who are seeking elective post must resign the various positions they have in the party.

In a press briefing today in Kisumu at the Regional Azimio La Umoja offices in Kisumu, the Kisumu County ODM Party officials led by Prof Ayiecho Olweny claimed that some politicians in Kisumu County are out to use the youth in order to cause chaos during Azimio La Umoja rally in Kisumu.

During the press statement, some officials singled out gubernatorial aspirant Ken Obura as the one behind the intention to use youths in causing chaos during the said rally.a

The allegation has vehemently been denied by some of those supporting Obura saying it is baseless and misinforming.
