Raila clarifies his ‘madoadoa’
remarks as he hold Azimio Rally in Kisumu
PRESIDENTIAL Contender Raila Odinga has clarified his recent
statement in Wajir County on ‘Madoadoa’ saying he meant that the area is leaning
towards Azimio La Umoja thus need to vote for candidates who are allied to it.
Raila says he did not mean any negative connotation targeting
any community but only drummed support for Azimio La Umoja when he was
addressing the residents of Wajir County.
Addressing a public rally in Kisumu to drum up support for the
Azimio La Umoja today, Raila said his remarks in Wajir was not as the one
uttered in Eldoret by some Tanga Tanga MPs that was targeting members of
certain communities.
He says if there is one who might have been offended by his
recent remarks in Wajir then he is sorry and has apologized about it.
Raila says: “Kama kuna mtu
yeyote ambaye haukunielewa viruzi kulingana na matamshi yangu kule Wajir, mimi nasema pole, pole, pole sana {If there is someone who did not understand well
what I said in Wajir, then I am very much sorry,”
Raila repeated the same remarks saying even in Kisumu there is
no ‘Madoadoa’ meaning Kisumu is Azimio La Umoja Zone.
Odinga’s statement comes barely a few hours after the National
Cohesion and Integration Commission{NCIC} has written a letter summoning him to
go and shade more light on his recent remarks in Wajir.
Meanwhile, Kisumu City and its environment has been a place
for a major political activity for the better part of the day after ODM Leader
Raila Odinga today took the Azimio la Umoja mega Rally in Kisumu to popularize
the movement ahead of his crowning in Nairobi tomorrow by more than 300
delegates.
Raila begun his day by going to pay his last respect to first
Nyakach Member of Parliament and Central Nyanza Senator Ondiek Chilo Miguda in
Nyakach Sub County.
After the event, Odinga came back to Kisumu City where he officially
commissioned the new Western regional Azimio la Umoja offices at Mlimani in
Kisumu City.
He later had his convoy sneaked into the city Center along Jomo
Kenyatta Highway to Kakamega Road then Kondele before getting its way to Jomo
Kenyatta International Stadium where he addressed a mammoth crowd.
At Kondele the enthusiastic crowd blocked Odinga's convoy
demanding an address from him.
He addressed them briefly and urged them to come with him to the
main venue of the event which was the new Jomo Kenyatta International stadium
at Mamboleo show ground.
At the Stadium, Odinga went round the while waving to the
mammoth crowd who turned up to listen to him.
Members of Parliament who spoke said every vote in Nyanza region
will be cast in favour of Odinga on August 9 this year during the General
Election.
They vow to mobilize all the voters in their region to vote Odinga as the Fifth President of Kenya.
Mark Nyamita Uriri MP says the only favor Odinga can get from
the Voters of Nyanza is by casting all their votes for him as the next President.
Paul Abuor of Rongo said they will ensure that there is 100
percent voter turnout from Migori county.
Nyando MP Jared Okello said appealed to Kenyans to vote for
Odinga wholesomely during the August 9 polls.
He castigated DP Dr William Ruto's recent remarks of allegations of democracy
being on trial after Ruto claimed of having plans to rig the forthcoming polls.
Millie Odhiambo Suba North urged Kenyans to vote
Azimio la Umoja Coalition.
She asked Ruto to prepare to concede defeat if he loses the next
elections and allow Azimio candidate Raila Odinga to lead this country as its fifth President.
Ken Obura, Kisumu Gubernatorial aspirant said
if Elected as the President, Raila should establish industrial parks across the
country.
Homa Bay Women Representative Gladys Wanga told DP Ruto to go slow on
politics saying real politics is yet to come.
Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi says Odinga's ten point agenda is really
going to transform the country even in the first 100 days.
Teso North MP Oku Kaunya said Kenya will be in safe hands
of Raila as it fifth President.
Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo said the notice by NCIC to summon
Raila is uncalled for because Odinga did not mean to incite Kenyans with the
statement, adding that ODM party will Marshall a battery of Lawyers to on the
issue.
Maina Kamanda Starehe MP said Central Kenya is ready to
vote Odinga as the country's next President during the August 8 polls.
ODM Party Secretary General Edwin Sifuna said Azimio la Umoja’s
candidate is Raila Odinga and will tomorrow be endorsed by more than 300
delegates.
