Political leaders in Kisumu root for peace ahead of parties’ primaries and election

A SECTION of Political leaders in Kisumu County have rooted for peace ahead of parties’ primaries that is slated to begin next month.

The Political leaders say peace is a very important element especially at this electioneering period across the country.

Speaking to mourners during the funeral ceremony of elder Antony Mburo of Kadiang’a in Nyakach Sub-County, the Political leaders led by Kisumu Deputy Governor Dr. Mathews Owili said all the aspirants should ask for votes peacefully ahead of the nomination process slated next month of April 13, 2022.

He says politicians should never hurt one another because of politics, adding that politics will come and go but the country will always be there.

“We are asking politicians to ask for votes in a peaceful manner and let none hurt another because of politics because politics come and go but we will always remain as one people of this great nation,” Dr. Owili says.

Dr. Owili says the ODM Party nomination process will be carried out and ask those who will not be successful to fully remain in the party and support the ones who will be nominated to be its candidates for various positions during the August 9 General Elections.

“We are kindly asking those who will not have made it to remain in the party for there is always another day and fight from the frontline,” he says

He adds that what is needed by the Azimio Presidential Flag bearer is a majority in the County Assemblies across the country, Parliament and Majority in the Senate and this will only be possible if full support is given to him and candidates allied to him are elected the majority during the August General election.

Nyakach Member of Parliament Joshua Aduma Owuor says as Nyakach Sub-County they will deliver votes to ODM and Azimio la Umoja in General.

He too calls for peace ahead of the parties’ primaries this April and the General Election on August 9.

He urges fellow politicians to go for peaceful campaigns during this electioneering period.

Lumumba Owade who is vying for South East Nyakach ward as Member of the County Assembly also called for peaceful campaigns during this period.

Owade is optimistic that the ODM Party National Elections Board will carry out credible, Fair, Transparent and variable nomination come April this year.

Polycarp Mburo, a son to the late Mzee Mburo also calls for peace ahead of the polls saying the election will come and go but the country will always remain together with its people.
